We got back to the property on a beautiful fall weekend, right around peak fall colors. The day was sunny and warm, and we packed a picnic to enjoy in what was still a meadow. Though now it was a meadow with survey stakes!
We managed to knock down one of the driveway stakes pulling in, but we weren’t too destructive. The staked location of the house matched about what we had in our minds, preserving the views to the west around our neighbor’s house. We could see lots of beautiful aspens, particularly down towards Lake Dillon.
We checked out the other sight lines as well, and all looked good. Now we just needed permits. Apparently the structural engineers missed a couple of tweaks, which pushed us back a couple days. We had wanted to submit for permits by the first of September; not it was looking like we were on track for the second of October.
